INFORMATION ABOUT COOKIES

Information About Cookies on this Website

Overview

Cookies are small text files placed on your computer by Websites you visit. On 25 May 2011, Directive 2009/136/EC, (the "Cookies Directive"), which amends Directive 2002/58/EC, came into force in the European Union (EU).

Among other things, this Directive states that "the storing of information or the gaining of access to information already stored, in the terminal equipment of a subscriber or user is only allowed on condition that the subscriber or user concerned has given his or her consent, having been provided with clear and comprehensive information".

This document contains a description of the cookies used on the OpenText Website. You can manage these cookies through your web browser setting or through this site’s cookie preference settings.

Our Website is evolving as we continue to take steps to implement the relevant measures set out in the Cookies Directive. Consequently, this web page and the information here will be reviewed and updated from time to time.

Cookies Used On This Website

Below, you will find a list cookies created and read when browsing the OpenText Website. We have grouped these cookies based on the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) cookie guide, which currently identifies four categories:

  1. Strictly necessary cookies
  2. Performance cookies
  3. Functionality cookies

Category 1: Strictly Necessary Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are those whose storage is necessary to provide the services explicitly requested. We use them to remember you as having logged into this Website, enabling you to use shopping cart checkout, as well as other Website applications you have requested.

These cookies are "strictly necessary" to provide services "explicitly requested" by you; allowing these cookies is a condition of using this Website.

Category 2: Performance Cookies

Performance cookies collect anonymous information on the pages visited. We use performance cookies to collect information about how visitors use our Website. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous; the information these cookies collect is only used to improve how our Website works.

Category 3: Functionality Cookies

Functionality cookies remember choices you make and are used to improve your experience.

We use functionality cookies to track user visit data in pseudonymised form, unless a visitor provides us their personal data through creating a profile.

How Enable Cookies and Disable Cookies

This section will tell you how to enable cookies (turning cookies on) and also how to disable them. Since cookies are maintained by your web browser, the method for enabling or disabling them will vary depending on which browser you are using.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0 - 10.0
Select the 'Tools->Internet Options' menu item, and then open the 'Privacy' tab - you can then adjust the slider to block or allow various categories of cookie. Alternatively by clicking 'Advanced...' you can exercise finer control over the browser's behavior, choosing whether to accept, block, or prompt for cookies originating either on the website you are visiting (first party cookies) or originating from websites other than the one you are visiting (third party cookies, typically used by banner advertisements hosted on an advertiser's website).

Firefox 7.0 and newer
Use the 'Tools->Options' menu item (may be under the Firefox button), then choose the 'Privacy' tab. Set the 'Firefox will:' option to 'Use custom settings for history'. Now you can choose whether cookies are enabled for websites you visit and third party websites, and if so how long they will persist. You can also use the 'Exceptions' button to override the settings for particular websites.

Firefox 3.0
Use the 'Tools->Options' menu item, then choose the 'Privacy' tab. Here you can choose whether cookies are enabled, and if so how long they will persist. You can also use the 'Exceptions' button to override the settings for particular websites.

Google Chrome 5.0
Choose 'Options' on the 'Cutomize and control' menu, then open the 'Under the Bonnet' tab. In the 'Privacy' section, click on the 'Content settings...' button and open the 'Cookies tab. Set the required cookie behaviour and use the 'Exceptions...' button (if required) to configure specific websites.

Apple Safari 5.1
Choose 'Preferences...' on the 'Settings' or 'Edit' menu (Windows) or the Safari menu (MacOS), then open the 'Privacy' tab. Now set the required cookie behaviour.

Apple iOS (iPhone, iPad)
From the home screen tap the 'Settings' icon, then choose 'Safari'. Find the 'Accept Cookies' option and set the required cookie behaviour.

Android browser
Tap the 'Internet' icon to start the browser, then press the phone's menu button. From the list of options, choose 'More', and then select 'Settings', then 'Privacy and Security'. Scroll down the resulting list and check or uncheck the 'Accept Cookies' item.

Android Chrome
Start Chrome, then open the options menu and scroll down to 'Settings', followed by 'Site setttings'. You can now choose whether to allow sites to save and read cookie data.
