The particular closeness of COMPERE to the sports sector, particularly automotive, motorcycle and bicycle, and our friendship with some champions who excelled in these sports who unfortunately incurred some misadventures have driven COMEPRE to approach the problem of disability.
One the first who turned to COMEPRE was the great Clay Regazzoni. After the crash of 1980 and a few years of rehabilitative care, Clay, who had known COMEPRE during the period of his stay in the Ferrari team, decided to restart his automotive racing activities. With this aim, he asked us to realise some Titanium aids he needed both to recover his pilot activity, but also to simplify his everyday life.
Over the years, we have built and modified any sort of aid, acquiring a special "feeling" with this type of clientele, that always found in COMEPRE and in its workers not only friends willing to listen, collaborate and study with them the best solutions, but also, in the case of sport activities, strong fans ready to support them in their challenge.
Many people become aware of this collaboration and, in the sport ambient (but not only) many disabled people asked us to realize aids they designed, or asked us to modify aids or equipment they buy, but that did not fully satisfy them.
COMEPRE, following proposals and suggestions of people with disabilities, has planned, designed and built easy-split or "ultra-light"wheelchairs and racing tricycles and wheelchairs, modified walkers, all kinds of specially adapted or custom means of transportation.
We have recently started a new research and development project for a revolutionary electric wheelchair based on the principle of electronic inclinometers and gyroscopes auto balanced chariots. This type of locomotion vehicle is particularly flexible, allowing to move in very narrow spaces (can rotate 360 degrees within a circle of about 70 centimeters in diameter), is lightweight and easily loadable also in the trunk of a small size car, exceed gradients of 20%, has an operational authonomy of 30 km or 5 hours of use, and a battery charge time of about 4 hours.

A successful story: Enzo Masiello at the Winter Paralympics in Vancouver in 2010 (and more ...)
Enzo Masiello asked COMEPRE for the construction of the "cradle" to be used for competitions of cross-country skiing at the Winter Paralympics in Vancouver 2010. We made him both an aluminum a Titanium cradle. Enzo results were extraordinary: in March 2010, in Vancouver, won the bronze medal in the 15 km and the silver medal in the 10 km. Afterwords, during the World Cup 2011 in Khanty-Mansiysk (Russia), he confirmed the results of the Paralympics in Vancouver, winning first the silver medal in the 10 km and later the bronze medal in the 15 km. The World Cup in 2013 Solleftea (Sweden) confirmed again the international value of Enzo, who won a silver medal in the 15 km cross-country skiing.
